Everything the Pikes Peak region is famous for, inside twenty minutes.
We sit on Manitou Avenue between Old Colorado City and downtown Manitou Springs — which puts the red rocks, the mountain, the Incline and the cliff dwellings all within a short drive of your front door, and two historic main streets within five minutes of it.

Garden of the Gods
Three hundred-foot fins of red sandstone tilted on end, free to enter, open from dawn. Go early: the light on the Gateway Rocks between six and eight is the reason people move here, and the main lot is full by ten in summer. The paved central loop is flat and stroller-friendly; the trails behind it empty out fast.

Pikes Peak
America's Mountain, 14,115 feet, and the view that produced America the Beautiful. Drive the Pikes Peak Highway or take the Broadmoor Manitou & Pikes Peak Cog Railway from Manitou — five minutes from your casita. Both need reservations in summer. Book them before you book dinner.

The Manitou Incline
2,744 railroad ties straight up a 2,000-foot gain, and the most punishing mile in Colorado. Free, but it requires a timed reservation. Come down the Barr Trail rather than the steps. Having a kitchen and a real bathtub waiting five minutes away is not nothing on Incline day.

Manitou Cliff Dwellings
Anasazi-style stone dwellings you are allowed to walk through rather than view from a rope, tucked under a sandstone overhang at the mouth of Ute Pass. Small, unhurried and genuinely good with children — an hour well spent, and open year round.

Downtown Manitou Springs
A National Register historic district that has stayed genuinely odd: eight free mineral springs you can drink from with a map, a penny arcade, bathhouse-era architecture, and more good independent restaurants per block than a town of five thousand has any right to.

Old Colorado City
Colorado's original territorial capital, now a walkable stretch of brick storefronts, galleries, breweries and the best coffee within ten minutes. We sit between here and Manitou, which means you get both without moving your car more than once.
There is no bad season here.
There are different ones.
Manitou Springs sits at 6,400 feet in a sheltered canyon, which gives it milder winters than people expect and evenings that cool off even in July.
Spring
The quietest rates of the year and the best light on the red rocks. Trails dry out through April; the mountain highway opens in stages. Pack layers and expect one surprise snow.
Summer
Peak season, and worth it. Book Pikes Peak, the Cog Railway and the Incline well ahead. Afternoon thunderstorms arrive around two — hike early, then cook dinner on your own patio.
Autumn
The local favourite. Golden aspen up Ute Pass, warm days, cold clear nights, and the crowds gone by mid-September. This is when the fire pits earn their keep.
Winter
Mild, sunny and cheap. Garden of the Gods in snow with nobody in it is one of Colorado's great free experiences. A kitchen and a warm casita make a January weekend feel like a proper escape.
A holiday fifteen minutes from your house.
If you live in Colorado Springs, the maths on a weekend away rarely works: two days of driving to get two days of somewhere else. This is the version where you skip the driving. Check in on Friday, cook in a kitchen that is not yours, wake up somewhere with adobe walls and mountain light, and be home by eleven on Sunday.
